Fundraising concert tour of the parishes begins tonight

A fundraising concert tour, reminiscent of those that toured the Orkney parishes in the 1950s, kicks off in Kirkwall tonight, in aid of a charity that has helped an Orkney family affected by cancer.

The planned events from September 17 to October 1, will see dozens of performers appearing around Orkney, raising money for the ARCHIE Foundation — the official charity of child health across the whole of the North of Scotland.

The series of concerts, entitled Celebrate with Emily, will culminate with a finale in Orphir, to celebrate Emily Findlay’s 16th birthday.

Tonight’s concert, at the Orkney Arts Theatre, begins at 7.30pm.
