Guilty verdict in High Court case
An Orkney man was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving at the High Court in Edinburgh earlier today.
Twenty-six-year-old Erland Thomas Flaws denied driving at excessive speed on the A965 Kirkwall to Stromness road on February 26, 2012.
The court heard that the car driven by Flaws collided with another vehicle causing the death of Moira Towers, 65, and Anne Stanger, 64.
After a week-long trial the jury delivered their guilty verdict following 60 minutes of deliberation this morning.
Flaws was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Livingston on November 28.
