Gun has no link to Mumutaz murder
Police have confirmed that a handgun recovered from an address in Kirkwall last summer has been examined and there is no connection being associated with it and the murder of Shamsuddin Mahmood at the Mumutaz restaurant in 1994.
It is understood that the gun was found in the garden of a house in Berstane Road, Kirkwall.
It was recovered during scheduled maintenance work at the property last July.
The murder weapon in the Mumutaz case has never been found.
