Lifeboat and tug in Orkney trawler rescue

Stromness Lifeboat and the Coastguard emergency towing vessel Herakles are both heading to aid a local trawler which is suffering from engine problems west of Orkney this evening, Thursday.
At 8.30pm the Kirkwall registered trawler Russa Taign, with seven crew onboard was in a position some 17 miles west of Westray, with the lifeboat almost alongside.
A Coastguard spokesperson said that the vessel was in no immediate danger, and a tow was being arranged, either by the tug or lifeboat, or by another fishing vessel in the area.
• In another incident, the Shetland based Coastguard helicopter is carrying out a medivac from Sanday this evening.
