McArthur encourages young Orcadians to look Into volunteering in Malawi
Orkney MSP Liam McArthur is encouraging young people in Orkney to look a volunteering opportunities in Malawi.
This follows an announcement by the McConnell International Foundation that it will provide support to young Scots who are involved in volunteering activity, but are struggling to meet the full cost because of their personal or family circumstances.
McArthur said: “Orkney enjoys strong links with Malawi, through the work of schools, churches and other groups in our community. It is a relationship from which both Orcadians and Malawians undoubtedly benefit. Indeed, I have seen this first hand, both from my discussions with those involved and during the visit I paid to Malawi a couple of years ago.
“I am delighted that the McConnell International Foundation has launched this initiative aimed at helping support young Scots who wish to spend time volunteering in Malawi.”
He added: “The deadline for applications is at the end of this month and I would encourage any young Orcadians who might be interested to get in touch.”
