More fun to come at Orkney Nature Festival

Orkney’s Nature Festival began with a bang last weekend with a sun drenched wildlife cruise onboard the Hamnavoe.

We are now half way through the week long celebration of the natural world and there is still plenty to see and do.

Tomorrow sees a Shoreline Ramble set off from the Stromness Museum and a Babies Wildlife Walk take place in Kirkwall.

This weekend there will be a Family Fun Day at Kirkwall Grammar School and A Snorkel Trail in Stromness.

On Saturday night there will be a special screening of The Velvet Queen a film following nature photographer Vincent Munier and writer Sylvain Tesson on a journey to find the elusive snow leopard.

After the screening Orkney’s own international wildlife cameraman Raymond Besant, and author and journalist Cal Flyn, will discuss the themes in the film and in particular the quest to find something elusive in nature.

Check out the Nature Festival’s website for timing and booking details.
