Health board endowment fund extended

NHS Orkney’s endowment fund has been opened up so that external bodies and individuals can now apply for funding, provided their bids meet the charitable aim of the “advancement of health”.

A cap has been set of £50,000 per annum and further information on how to make applications, currently being developed, will be published over the coming weeks.

Jeremy Richardson, chairman of the Endowment Fund sub-committee, added: “This is a good news story highlighting the aims of the fund and for the first time extending eligibility outside the NHS, subject to qualifying conditions being met.

“We will be publishing details of how to apply for funding in the New Year and will accept applications through a variety of media, including online.

“We are also encouraging public donations to the fund and are currently piloting the use of internet donations through the JustGiving website.”
