Odinstone takes the double at prime stock show
Two cows from Odinstone, Shapinsay, took the champion and reserve at this morning’s Prime Stock show at Orkney Auction Mart.
First place went to a February-born Limousin heifer shown by Frazer Leslie, while second place went to a March-born, homebred Limousin cow, shown by Frazer’s father, John Leslie.
The winner went on to sell for £2,800 to Craigie’s butcher, the Brig, Kirkwall, with the reserve bought by Williamson’s, Kirkwall, for £1,850.
First place in the sheep section went to a pair of Texels from Scott & Brown, Biggings, Stenness, with reserve going to a pair of Charollais shown by Charles Copland, Overhouse, Harray.
The judge was Harry Brown Jnr, from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, Aberdeenshire.
