Orkney RFC travel to Motherwell with their sights set high

There's no way through for Marcus Guthrie against Perthshire.
There’s no way through for Marcus Guthrie during last weekend’s 18-15 victory over Perthshire.

Orkney RFC are set to take on Dalziel this Saturday with the islanders hoping to continue their good recent form and — if results go their way — climb the BT National League Division 3 table.

Sixth-placed Orkney closed the gap on fifth-placed Perthshire to just one point after last weekend’s thrilling victory and with Perthshire facing a tough match against league leaders GHK, Orkney can move into fifth — or even higher — if they gain a favourable result against Dalziel and other results go their way.

Last weekend’s 18-15 triumph made it three consecutive wins for Orkney and they will be in confident mood against a side they beat 29-3 earlier in the season. However, Dalziel, who are tenth, sprung a major surprise last weekend as they beat Dumfries Saints 10-12, meaning that it would be unwise to write off the Motherwell side.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 11am at Dalziel Park, Motherwell.

Also on Saturday, there is an internal West v Rest match scheduled to kick off at 12pm in Dounby.
