OIC to take it to the limit in the isles

Moves are under way to end the “postcode lottery” which governs the safety of pupils travelling to and from school in Orkney.

Temporary 20 miles per hour, flashing light signs have become familiar outside primaries and secondaries on the Mainland and in the rest of Scotland

But a lack of funding has meant the safety measure remains absent at the junior high schools at North Walls, Sanday, Stronsay and Westray and the primaries at Shapinsay, Rousay, Eday, Papa Westray, North Ronaldsay and Flotta.
