Online safety course for KGS parents

In introduction to the dangers of the internet, for parents of Kirkwall Grammar School pupils, is due to take place next month.

Orkney Youth Cafe’s Pete Nicol is a qualified Childrens’ Online and Exploitation Protection (CEOP) ambassador and will be delivering the introductory session at KGS.

He said: “This introductory course looks at online behaviour, how to keep your child safer, and raises awareness of the things – both good and bad – that young people get up to online.”

He added: “The internet and social media are great social tools if used properly, but it’s important that young people and parents are aware of the negative side too.”

The session will be part of the next KGS parent forum meeting, on October 2.
