Orkney delegation discuss ferries
Orkney MSP Liam McArthur was joined in Edinburgh this week by OIC chief executive Albert Tait, and council convener Stephen Hagan for meetings in the Scottish Parliament with Ministers to discuss the future of ferry provision in the islands.
The first meeting with Infrastructure Secretary, Alex Neil considered Orkney’s exclusion from the government’s Road Equivalent Tariff scheme, while the second involved Transport Minister Keith Brown and focused largely on options for upgrading Orkney’s internal ferry service.
Following the meeting, Mr McArthur said: “These were useful meetings that enabled detailed discussion on a wide range of issues relating to Orkney’s lifeline ferry services.”
