Orkney set to take on Golspie in semi-final

Orkney FC will be hoping to finally restart their season after the Christmas and New Year break this Saturday as they are set to travel south to take on Golspie Sutherland in the Football Times Cup semi-final.

In a re-run of last year’s final which Golspie won 2-0, the islanders will be going all out to gain revenge but they’ll know that it will be a difficult test, with Golspie Sutherland already beating them 4-1 this season, and are four points better off than their island compatriots in the North Caledonian League.

Orkney had been set to take on North Caledonian League leaders Halkirk United last weekend until a frozen KGS 3G pitch prompted a very late call-off.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 1pm at the King George V Park in Golspie.

Thurso host Alness United in the other semi-final with kick-off in that match scheduled for 1.30pm on Saturday.
