Orkney votes ‘remain’

The majority of Orkney voters want the UK to remain in the EU.

The local result of today’s referendum has been announced at Kirkwall Grammar School, with 7,189 of the county’s voters wanting to stay in the EU, and 4,193 wanting to leave.

As reported earlier, the turnout of Orkney voters was 11,402 (68.45 per cent).
