Pier Arts Centre appoints new chairwoman
Local artist and youth development worker at Voluntary Action Orkney Laura Drever has been appointed as new chairwoman of the Pier Arts Centre’s board of directors.
She said: “Being involved with the Pier Arts Centre is a great honour and a role I enjoy very much. As chair, I look forward to working alongside the board, staff and volunteers to continue to support, guide and contribute to the future of the Pier.
“The Pier Arts Centre has so much to offer our community including a fantastic collection of art works, a beautiful building, skilled staff, educational workshops as well as a full programme of contemporary art. It’s a wonderful asset to Orkney and one we should all be very proud of.”
Laura takes over from Graham Bevan who steps down as chairman after his term in office.
The Pier Arts Centre is a charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprising expertise from a broad range of backgrounds and currently has nine members.
