Road works underway in Kirkwall

Orkney Islands Councill are currently carrying out surface dressing and road marking operations at King Street and Queen Street in Kirkwall.

The works started today and are expected to continue for four weeks.

Signs will be posted appropriately as there will be road closures and disruptions to passing traffic.

OIC  asks drivers to follow the signs as instructed to avoid driving up to the “Roads Closed” signs and having to turn around at difficult locations.

The council said it appreciates the cooperation of drivers, will endeavour to keep delays to a minimum and apologies for any inconvenience caused.
