Rovers retain league title

Football club Kirkwall Rovers retained the Orkney Cheese ‘A’ League title with a 3-2 victory over Thorfinn at the Bignold Park last night.

James Tait opened the scoring for Rovers with a first-half free-kick before Mark Berry doubled their advantage early in the second half.

Graham Shearer and substitute Kyran Taylor pulled Thorfinn level in the second half, but Berry struck again late on to win the match for the hosts.

The result leaves Rovers four points clear at the top of the table with one game to go.
