Spotlight on Orkney’s green homes

Orkney Auction Mart is hosting a Green Homes Event in Kirkwall tomorrow, Saturday.

The event, from 11am to 3pm, aims to give the public the chance to chat with renewable energy specialists and find out more about energy efficiency in the home.

It will also feature the launch of the new Orkney Fuel Poverty register.

Then, on Saturday evening, there is an opportunity to visit green homes across Orkney later in the evening, between 6pm and 8pm, with people opening up their homes as part of a Scotland-wide initiative run by the Energy Saving Trust

Nine eco-friendly homes in Orkney are taking part — in Westray, Rendall, Quoyloo, Stromness, Orphir, Kirkwall, Burray and St Margaret’s Hope.
