Stromness Academy consults on changes to school week
Stromness Academy is consulting with its parents on changes to the shape of the school week.
Over the next few weeks, parents and carers will receive a consultation questionnaire so that all families can give their views to the school. Once these are collated, the results will inform the final decisions, for changes later in the year.
Hilda Learmonth, headteacher, explained: “It is now the right time to adjust the shape of the week to allow for more flexibility in timetabling classes through the school.
“We have been working hard on Curriculum for Excellence developments and judge that the Broad General Education, for S1 to S3, and Senior Phase, for S4 to S6, will benefit from these adjustments.
“We have had discussions with staff and the Parent Council and have taken full account of their comments. It is now right to make sure that all our parents and carers are also given the opportunity to give their views”.
Ms Learmonth and senior staff will be available for discussion and questions next week.
