UKIP announce North Isles General Election candidate

Robert Smith has announced he will be standing on behalf of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), during this year’s General Election, on June 8.

Mr Smith, from South Ronaldsay, also stood in Orkney and Shetland during the last two general elections, in 2015 and 2010.

He commented: “I am standing because I was asked to and also because, after the EU referendum, I think its important to restate the case for leaving the European Union.”

“Since then, we have been hearing a lot of nonsense as to what’s going to happen to the country and I wouldn’t want to sit on the sidelines while the other Euro-federalists standing state their case.”
