ADS meeting could not come at more important time – McArthur
Orkney MSP Liam McArthur has welcomed news that council leaders in the Highlands and Islands will meet with the Scottish transport minister over concerns about the restriction of the Air Discount Scheme (ADS) for business travel.
Mr McArthur said the meeting could not come at a more important time, adding that the transport minister had to listen carefully and respond positively, without “hiding behind EU rules”.
“The decision to cut ADS is putting local businesses at a competitive disadvantage, while also costing charities, voluntary groups and the public sector money they can ill-afford.
“It is a regressive decision that will isolate our island communities over time. I am sure the council leaders will leave the minister in no doubt about the need for a u-turn on this issue.”
