Bus services branded ‘a disgrace’

One member of the public described the bus service in Orkney, run by Stagecoach, “a disgrace” at a public meeting held by the company earlier this week.

This week, The Orcadian‘s report on public meetings held by Stagecoach saw disgruntled passengers air their grievances about the county’s bus service.

One of several issues to be raised was the condition of vehicles on various local routes, with one member of the public branding the service “a disgrace.”

“They are always breaking down, they’re dirty inside and out, and they’re never on time,” she declared.

With concerns around accessibility, timetabling, cleanliness, and rude bus drivers also being raised, Stagecoach marketing manager Kim Masson said she felt that a lot of positive ideas could be brought forward as Stagecoach prepares for further discussions with Orkney Islands Council.

“There’s been some really helpful feedback,” she said.

“There’s some things that don’t come as a surprise — problems with the routes and frequencies — that we will be able to take back and discuss with Orkney Islands Council.”

For the full round-up of comments from both the public and Stagecoach, check out this week’s The Orcadian.
