East Mainland Show falls victim to the weather
The 2015 East Mainland Show has been cancelled because of the continuing wet weather.
The East Mainland Agricultural Society confirmed the cancellation following a committee meeting on Tuesday evening.
Speaking this morning, show secretary Heather Croy said that the decision to cancel was unanimous.
She said that the ongoing wet weather meant that the St Andrews showground was too wet to bring vehicles and stalls on to and that it left farmers with little time to prepare their animals for the show and get their other work done.
The show was due to take place on Saturday, August 1, however a show of horses, pets and dogs will now take place at the Orkney Riding centre, St Ola, on the same date.
The president of the County Show James Cowe has dismissed rumours that the County Show will also be affected and said this morning that the show is planned to go ahead as normal.
