Firefighters called to Deerness

A fire at a farm shed on the Halley Road in Deerness has been extinguished.

Two fire engines attended the scene, after a 2.20pm call-out on Saturday.

Firefighters were stood down at 6.04pm.

Also this afternoon, police reported that the Halley Road was shut, in connection with a vehicle fire.

It is not clear whether the incidents are connected, as Scottish Fire and Rescue control staff are not aware of any road closure or a vehicle fire in the area.

Police Scotland has yet to share a further update, and its press lines do not operate after 5pm on weekends.
