Geese cause power cut in Rousay

Folk in Rousay were affected by a power cut  yesterday, Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson from Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD), the loss of electricity occurred after a number of geese were involved in a collision with a power line, just before 4pm. As a result, 215 of their customers were left without power.

After sending staff out on the earliest available ferry, SHEPD staff were able to restore at around 10pm.

The SHEPD spokesperson took the opportunity to apologise to customers on the island for the loss of service.
