Inside January’s Peedie Orcadian

The Peedie Orcadian — the new supplement made for and by young people in the county — is included in this week’s edition of The Orcadian, which is now available in shops and online.

This month’s edition of The Peedie Orcadian features a front-page story on how 2018 is being celebrated as “The Year of Young People” as well as round-ups of many top stories from the past month, all written with younger readers in mind.

Also featured are book reviews from Emma Grant, from Kirkwall Grammar School and Gerald Hodgson from Papdale Primary School.

This month’s Big Interview sees nine-year-old Gerry McGowan, from Dounby Primary School, talk to Police Scotland’s new area commander for Orkney, Matt Webb.

We also have a cartoon by James Hogg from Stromness Primary School.
