About the role
Scholes Chartered Accountants is seeking an ambitious individual to join our growing firm. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience in maintaining financial records and processing VAT for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work closely with senior accountants and assist with the preparation of year end accounts.
Key responsibilities
• Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records for a varied client portfolio using cloud software (Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks).
• VAT returns: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and ensure compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) regulations.
• Year-end support: Assist with the preparation of management accounts and year end financial statements.
• Client interaction: Communicate professionally with clients via phone and email to gather necessary financial information.
• Administrative support: Maintain accurate filing systems and support the wider team with ad-hoc financial tasks.

• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong numerical ability, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
• Attitude: A proactive, “can-do” approach with the ability to work effectively in a team and meet strict deadlines.
