Kirkwall linkspan closed amid police investigation

*UPDATE* Orkney Ferries say that the linkspan is now back in operation. Police have confirmed that a body was found in the water at the pier this Wednesday morning (May 8), and enquiries are ongoing.

Orkney Ferries cancelled its early sailing to Eday and Stronsay this morning due to an ongoing police investigation at the linkspan in Kirkwall.

Sanday and Westray services were expected to operate, but with foot passengers only.
