Three Orcadians named in New Year Honours List
Three Orcadians have been named in the Queen’s New Year Honours List.
Leslie Manson, the OIC’s executive director of education, leisure and housing, has received an MBE for services to Scottish education and the community in Orkney, while jewellery designer Sheila Fleet has been awarded an OBE for services to her industry.
Receiving a CBE for services to Scottish arts and media is Orkney-born writer and journalist Magnus Linklater.
The son of Orcadian writer Eric Linklater, Mr Linklater is a former editor of The Scotsman newspaper, former Scotland editor of The Times and a former executive editor of the Sunday Times.
