Orkney RFC aim to come out ‘all guns blazing’

Rugby12Sep2015_01
Orkney face Greenock Wanderers this Saturday at the Pickaquoy and are hoping to get their first win of the season.

Orkney’s rugby players will be hoping to put last weekend’s defeat to Highland behind them, as they welcome Greenock Wanderers to Pickaquoy this weekend.

Wanderers, relegated from BT National League Division 2 last season, are somewhat of an unknown quantity, however they secured a narrow 15-13 victory over Dalziel in last Saturday’s season opener.

Meanwhile, a depleted 17-man Orkney squad fell to a disappointing 40-17 defeat in Inverness, however Orkney will be hoping to welcome back several players for Saturday’s fixture.

It is the first part of a home double-header, with Orkney welcoming Haddington to the Pickaquoy next weekend.

Orkney coach Paul Livingstone said his side had to start “with a bang” on Saturday.

“We can’t take any prisoners. These next two weeks, we need to get victories and a couple of bonus points if we can. We need literally to come out all guns blazing from the kick-off.”

The match is scheduled to start at 12.30pm.
