Orkney RFC set to welcome bottom side Irvine

BT National League Division 3 bottom side Irvine RFC are due to visit the county this Saturday, facing an Orkney RFC side buoyed by last weekend’s 14-12 victory over Haddington.

Orkney’s first win of 2016 last weekend means that they go into Saturday’s game in sixth place, level on points with fifth placed Perthshire but behind them on points difference, and they will be confident of gaining victory over a side that has two victories to their name so far this season and are currently 28 points behind the islanders.

Despite the odds being stacked firmly in the home side’s favour, Orkney RFC captain Alan Brown said recently that Orkney couldn’t underestimate any team in the league, and the home side will be wary of allowing complacency to creep in.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 1pm at Pickaquoy.
