‘Pier to Pier Training’ project needs your vote

A community training event in Orkney is one of five Scottish projects calling for public support in an online vote to secure National Lottery funding of up to £50,000.

The Orkney Association of Youth Groups (OAYG) will use the funds to run a weekend training event — Pier to Pier Training — in Kirkwall that is geared towards improving the skills of adult volunteers, youth workers and young people.

In addition it wants to develop a database of local trainers and set up a bank of equipment for groups who can’t afford to buy their own.

Voting in the People’s Projects competition opens at 9am on Monday, March 20, at www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk and runs until April 3.

The three projects with the most public votes will receive grants of up to £50,000.

At 2pm on Monday, March 20, the OAYG will showcase their project on STV.
