Pilot vessel poll closes soon

Orkney Islands Council has issued a reminder that people have just a few days left to help choose the name for the county’s new pilot launch.

Votes can be cast in an online poll for one of the names on a shortlist.

This features prominent figures from Orkney’s history, plus the name of a previous pilot launch. The poll is available on the council’s website:  http://www.orkney.gov.uk/OIC-News/Cast-your-vote-in-pilot-vessel-poll.htm

People who vote will be in with the chance of taking part in the naming ceremony – and going for a family trip aboard the new vessel. The poll closes on Tuesday May 21.

The new pilot launch is currently under construction in Spain and is due to arrive in Orkney later in the summer.
