ROAR gang returns — with a little help from their friends

Camron Dowell will perform at the event in the St Magnus Centre tonight.

The ROAR volunteers are back this weekend, with an all new event, inspired this time by the music of The Beatles.

A Little Help From My Friends will bring a number of local acts together in aid of the Blide Trust, at the St Magnus Centre in Kirkwall, tonight.

On the bill are Saltfishforty, William’s Band, Camron Dowell, Billy Jolly, the Driftwood Cowboys, Jenny Hall and Amy LeMar.
Each act will perform at least one cover version of a Beatles song, and there may even be some fancy dress . . .

ROAR is a Voluntary Action Orkney project, which supports young people to organise and run charity concerts, gigs and other entertainment events, such as quizzes, in the community. It also provides a creative outlet for those in the group and their peers, many of whom get their first opportunity at public performance through participation in the events.

The ROAR team said: “We really hope that, with all the acts, we can try and showcase The Beatles massive catalogue of music. As with any charity concert, it is for such a deserving cause, and we hope people show their support for the Blide Trust.”

Doors are open at 7pm.
