Orkney and Shetland’s Strongest Man 2014, Stewart Flett (left), is presented with the winner’s trophy by Thorfinn Craigie, who sponsored the event.

Eighteen year old Stewart Flett was the victor in this afternoon’s Northern Isles’ Strongest Man competition.

The youngster edged out Paul Suggitt into second place, across five different events at the Orkney Riding Centre, to take the title. The two then combined to win the team deadlifts competition.

Shetlander Jonni Manson was third overall and in the process took the title of Shetland’s Strongest Man.

In the novice section, Rhys Robinson emerged victorious after a strong showing across all the events.

Afterwards, Flett said it felt “amazing” to have won and that it made all the training he has put in worthwhile.
