Anna Tait is the headline act on day three of the NatWest Island Games in Gotland, as she aims for medal success.

Tait will take to the athletics track at approximately 5.40pm local time (4.40pm GMT+2) in the 1,500m and appears to be a strong favourite for a medal.

Rachael Franklin, from the Isle of Man, set an Island Games record in 2015, finishing in 4.24.93 — a time the Kirkwall athlete has already broken by three seconds this year already.

Elsewhere, the footballers will end there in group stage, with a tough match against Jersey, at 5pm.

After one win and one defeat so far, Orkney’s footballers will head into the match full of confidence, against a side currently top of the group, one point above Orkney.

The archers continue their Games with head-to-head knockout competitions, while bronze medalist Taylah Spence will be back on the athletics track as part of the 4 x 100m women’s relay team as they run in heats. Erin Montgomery and Molly Cant are also throwing in the women’s shot putt.

Orkney’s four golfers — Ewan Rendall, Scott Walls, Hamish Gorn and Michael Schinkel — also get their Games underway at Slite golf course.

The badminton players are set for another busy day, with individual events, doubles and mixed doubles going on today, while the swimmers are back in the pool.
