Weather causes travel problems

With further high winds forecast, ferry service providers are warning of sailing cancellations and possible disruption to service.

Passengers planning on travelling on Orkney Ferries, Pentland Ferries and with Serco NorthLink Ferries, are advised to check their websites to keep up to date with the changing situation.

The Orkney Islands Council Twitter site is also being updated with travel information relating to the Churchill Barriers.

The barriers were closed to traffic for a time last night, Thursday, which led to large queues and a long wait for those wishes to cross.
