Ballast water drop-in session

A drop-in information session and display on the Council’s proposed new Ballast Water Discharge policy will be held next Tuesday between 12 noon and 7pm at the Kirkwall Town Hall.

The session is aimed at giving the public an opportunity to see the latest revised proposals following recent feedback from Scottish Natural Heritage and Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

Representatives from OIC’s Marine Services and from specialist consultants Intertek METOC will be on hand to answer questions.

Information handouts which will be made available at the drop-in session are also available at www.orkney.gov.uk .

Councillors will be considering the proposed policy at the next meeting of the policy and resources committee on July 3.
