Battling Orkney FC lift Football Times Cup
A Thorfinn Stout goal and an Aiden Drever penalty saw Orkney FC lift the Football Times Cup for the first time, at the expense of Lewis and Harris.
It was a far from vintage performance from Orkney, however a battling 90 minutes in Golspie ended in delight for the Orcadians.
Goal-scoring opportunities were at a premium during a goalless first half, however Orkney improved in the second period, taking the lead through a low Stout strike midway though the half.
Orkney were reduced to ten men in the closing stages – James Pickles seeing red for two bookable offences – however they sealed the victory – and the cup – with Drever sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot after Liam Delday was upended.
Erik Bews, alongside Owen Rendall and DJ Moffat were fantastic in a dominant rearguard performance, with Bews being named Man of the Match.
