Cycle network funding boost
A cycle track in Toab looks set to benefit from £85,000 of funding, as it is amongst a host of projects which have been announced by the Scottish Government this week.
43 cycling and walking infrastructure projects are set to be installed across Scotland by spring 2015, thanks to funding from Transport Scotland. Locally Orkney Islands Council have been awarded £85,000 for the Toab project.
Sustainable transport charity, Sustrans Scotland, has given the green light to a wide variety of projects ranging in scale from small cycle signage schemes to sizeable path projects linking communities to everyday destinations.
Over £4.5 million will be invested into these new projects by Sustrans through its Community Links Programme.
