Family go extra ‘stride’ for sick babies
When the Coffey family crossed the finish line at John O’Groats, signalling the end of a huge 450-mile test of endurance which has raised thousands of pounds to help premature and sick babies, it brought a sense of closure on the most difficult chapter of their lives.
The fundraising challenge, “Stride for Simpsons” which saw the family cycle, hike, run and swim the length of the country over the course of 13 exhausting days has raised around £15,000 so far — that total will rise further — for the specialist neonatal unit, without which their two precious tots would not be here.
