The art of film in the spotlight
The International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT) is hosting a guest lecture in Stromness tonight, with local film editor Mark Jenkins discussing the main aspects of his craft.
Now with a number of BAFTA awards under his belt, Mark has been involved in cinema for nearly 30 years and has been teaching and lecturing at Screen Academy Scotland, Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama to name a few.
Since moving to Orkney nearly seven years ago, Mark has progressed into film-making and to date has made over 20 short films, including Gunnie – commemorating the life of photographer Gunnie Moberg; Reflections – celebrating the life and work of artist Sylvia Wishart and The Imaginary Worlds of Scapa Flow – a 35-minute documentary drama produced during a film residency at the Pier Arts Centre.
The talk takes place tonight, Wednesday, at 7.30pm in the Stromness Town Hall.
