Five points the difference as Orkney gain a bonus point

Orkney RFC suffered a cruel 29-24 defeat at the hands of Haddington this afternoon in a closely fought and pulsating encounter. Haddington went into the break 17-10 up after an entertaining first half with a converted Magnus Flett try and a Graham Poke penalty giving Orkney’s hope going into the second half.

In the second period, one try a-piece from Scott Rendall and William Thomson were converted by Magnus Flett and despite battling valiantly, Orkney couldn’t prevent Haddington from adding to their lead, leaving the full-time score 29-24 to the home side.

Although Orkney lost, they still gained one losing bonus point for being within seven points.
