Folk Festival road closures reminder

Orkney Islands Council is reminding the public there will be road closures and traffic changes in central Stromness next week in relation to the Folk Festival, starting Thursday, May 26 and carrying through to the evening of Sunday, May 29.

Victoria Street (from No 14 Victoria Street to the junction with Church Road) and Ferry Road (from No 14a Victoria Street to its junction with Victoria Street) will be closed to vehicles between 10:00am and 18:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Parking will also be prohibited in the parking bays located between 14 – 16 Victoria Street and also the bays between 14a to 16 Victoria Street (Ferry Road) – from 08:00am on Thursday to 23.59pm on Sunday.

A temporary one-way system will also be introduced, sending traffic in an easterly direction from Victoria Street to Ferry Road – using the small section of road between the Warehouse Buildings and Wisharts –  from Thursday morning to late on Sunday evening (11:59pm).

Signage will be in place for all parking and traffic changes. Council crews will be assisting the Folk Festival with the closures which are aimed at ensuring a safe and enjoyable Folk Festival for all.
