North Ronaldsay’s unsung hero is a ‘Pride of Britain’ winner

North Ronaldsay’s Billy Muir has been named one of the winners in the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain awards.

Mr Muir’s role in the island community earned him the TSB Community Partner award at the annual ceremony, which aims to celebrate the UK’s unsung heroes.

He carries out 20 jobs in North Ronaldsay and, at the age of 68, has said he has no plans to retire.

The awards ceremony will be shown on STV tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8pm.
