OIC consider web broadcasts
Orkney Islands Council is to consider broadcasting council meetings live on the internet.
The request to look at webcasting was made by the Orkney Manifesto Group, councillors Alistair Gordon, John Richards and Bill Stout.
Following discussion at last week’s meeting of the Asset Management Sub-Committee, the recommendation to undertake a consultation with the public, elected members and staff on the implications of, and demand for, webcasting of meetings was agreed. This recommendation will now go to Policy and Resources Committee.
Webcasting would involve the live broadcast on the internet of video and audio from meetings of the council or its committees allowing members of the public not able to attend to view meetings.
