On the awards shortlist . . .

The Orcadian has been shortlisted as Newspaper of the Year in this year’s Highlands and Islands Media Awards.

In addition, our chief reporter, Craig Taylor, is on the shortlist for the Top Story of the Year award for his coverage of the Cemfjord tragedy at the start of 2015.

The Orcadian is up against The Shetland Times, The Northern Scot and The Strathspey and Badenoch Herald, while on the shortlist with Craig is Rita Campbell (The Press and Journal) and Neil Riddell (Shetland News).

The results will be announced, in Inverness, on February 5, 2016.
