One week until close of nominations – don’t leave it until the last minute
With the deadline for nomination less than a week away, prospective candidates in the forthcoming OIC elections are being urged not to leave it until the last minute.
Nominations close at 4pm on Wednesday, March 29, with the list of candidates to be published shortly afterwards.
Karen Greaves, the OIC’s deputy returning officer, said: “The elections team are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for running the election in May. We’ve had a steady stream of potential candidates submitting their nomination papers to us, which is a very straightforward process. However we would like to avoid a last minute rush of nominations coming in, so if you are intending to stand then please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
The elections team are available between 10am and 4pm on weekdays to complete nomination paperwork, which can be picked up from the council offices or downloaded from www.orkney.gov.uk.
