Open day at Westray dig site
The ongoing archaeological excavation site at the Links of Noltland, Westray, were the focus of an open day today Saturday, September 29.
Celebrating the end of this season’s archaeological fieldwork, the free event was a chance for visitors to see the Links first hand via guided tours — including a visit to the recently excavated Neolithic structure of Grobust House and surrounding Bronze Age settlement,.
All three of the Noltland figurines are on display in the Westray Heritage Centre – the most recent of which was unveiled this summer, alongside a free exhibition on Neolithic Westray designed by the island’s school students.
