Orkney beef on the menu at prestigious London dinner
An Orkney farming family said they are delighted that their cattle were chosen as the source of the Scotch Beef served at the Diner des Grands Chefs, one of the most prestigious gatherings of top chefs in the world.
The Scotch Beef PGI served at the charity dinner, for which guests paid £600 per ticket, was sourced by Bridge of Allan-based Scotbeef from the Sinclair family at Unigarth in Sandwick.
PGI stands for Protected Geographical Indication, which is a community scheme to protect and promote traditional and regional food products of high quality which are unique to a geographic area. Scotch Beef and Lamb have long held this coveted PGI status.
The Diner des Grands Chefs, which was this year held in London following stints in Versailles and New York, saw 46 “Grands Chefs” of 13 different nationalities represented including: France, the United States, Japan, South Africa, Singapore and Taiwan.
